I mean, yeah - unless you're the social creditor who's always being taken advantage of, or someone for whatever reason, isn't extended the same deferences as other in the community. Like, capitalism did really open doors from some parts of society that had been excluded.

yeah, one thing that comes up in the series is that these systems just aren't stable at all usually the entire village winds up owing the large local landowner more than they could pay off in a lifetime hence debt jubilees being a recurring feature of the system
