parents are tyrants. "parent" is an oppressive class, like rich people or white people.

i don't agree. IMO, parenthood is inherently a power imbalance with the potential for abuse, but to truly be an oppressor class, there must be more than just the *potential* for abuse - it must be *incentivized*.

CEO's are fiscally incentivized to abuse their employees; that makes them an oppressor class. by contrast, i do not see how parents are incentivized to abuse their children. (i could certainly be wrong about this; i'm only saying i haven't seen evidence to support that idea.)

In the purest financial sense, money you spend on your kids is money you never get back So people who are motivated by money either neglect their kids (usually because they change their mind about having wanted them) or try to make sure they *do* get the money back, via abuse

People who see having kids as a positive financial investment do so because they are incentivized to act abusively (to pressure kids to have a lucrative career and to spend that money helping support their parents' lifestyle or be their parents' safety net)
