Almost like you could be a non abusive parent but many parents abuse the same powers you're given

I think referring to parents broadly as a class of tyrant is silly chiefly because there is a term for someone with the kind of combination of both extreme power and responsibility over a person that they have, and that word is "parent."

I think dunking on my friends along with a ton of cruel chuds across the Internet is a bit worse than silly, but what do I know

Whatever the actual nature of the relationship, tyrants always imagine the degree of power they wield is matched by equivalent responsibility and believe themselves equal to that responsibility, or at least they try to keep up that pretense in public "Father of His Country"

I am starting to think Noah's job is to heighten the contradictions by saying extremely basic radical shit completely stripped of jargon so that it gets read as a "hot take" The anti-family anti-parent stuff is foundational Marxism 101 *and* radical feminism 101

He's not saying anything you won't get from reading Engels The radical feminist he quotes most often is Shulamith Firestone but honestly every single thing he says would've been completely expected talking points anywhere in the 2nd wave

Really what all this reveals is how badly radicalism has been defeated In the 70s it was very common for feminists to say the logical conclusion of Betty Friedan's book was motherhood itself was an oppressive institution, it shouldn't exist, in an ideal future it wouldn't

And it's really telling that the people who call themselves "radical feminists" on the Internet today hang out at a website called Mumsnet, view themselves as defenders of the sanctity of motherhood, and if you say "motherhood should be abolished" you get blasted from all sides

‘Mother is a job, which means you can’t make me go put hours in at a supermarket or fast food place.’ Roots in the whole ‘must work must pay rent if underclass’ absurdity. See also:’men are wallets and make my childs’ mentality. These are mean people. Even when counterproductive.
