This looks pretty bad for the economic desperation argument just on the face of it, which is why the concern trolls quickly developed an insane narrative that the car was leased from the mafia and if it was damaged he could've been killed by loan sharks or something

It is a pretty well known fact among people who actually drive for Uber or hang out with people who do that many many people do it as a part time job to make extra cash This is WHY it's a brutal job for people who have no choice but to try to do it as a full time occupation
