How in the HELL does that example make the case. WTFFFFF. One driver got away with a horrible thing so all drivers should get away with bad things because... what?

No they should all be accountable! And having a union would make that happen as well as having the bonus of making drivers not live in abject poverty!

And your genius avatar to support that cause is the one driver fired for dropping a person on the side of the road in a wheelchair. You have... strange strategic priorities

There are 100s of people sexually assaulted each year by Uber drivers but because you didn’t see their viral tweet I guess that doesn’t matter.

Is it your experience that unions always do a better job of "policing their own" than management or external institutions Because sometimes that may be true but there are many obvious cases where it isn't (teacher's unions going to bat for a member who committed assault)

no but management is pretty much always at cross purposes so it doesnt matter. Even that settlement you mention neglects to resolve the fact that uber heavily disincentivises accommodations for the disabled it just shifts all of the burden onto the workers.

As I said when this first came up, obviously everything about Uber would be better if drivers had company-owned vehicles or, failing that, Uber provided compensation for cleaning and interior maintenance as a matter of course

However, the idea that drivers NEED this kind of support to comply with the ADA is false And it is deeply rooted in ableism It doesn't actually cost you anything to let a wheelchair user or a service dog user ride in your car It's easy and it's free

no but getting the animal dander out of your car so you don't get complaints that could cost you your job isnt.

Moreover, like I said, it's not a great system because it pits worker vs customer directly but Uber drivers CAN CHARGE A CLEANING FEE if you leave a mess The person in question here regularly says they assure drivers they won't dispute it if the driver charges a cleaning fee

But that's never happened The one shitty driver yelled abuse at them and one-starred them on the app for "making her carry that dirty dog" but didn't charge the cleaning fee So hey maybe it's not about the vacuuming
