(I'm actually serious to an extent about this, the ability to maintain muscle mass is considered a "luxury" by the human metabolism When you get sick your body burns off its muscle *before* fat, just like you sell the Trans Am before you dip into your 401k)

But yeah no I'm sure the reason there aren't more 70-year-olds with liver disease who lift regularly is that people are just lazy or ignorant about the benefits of lifting

Most medical professionals don’t understand the difference between correlation and causation. That’s why so much medical and pharmaceutical research has to b changed so often.

On the one hand, I strongly suspect that everybody’s got a 100% likelihood of dying, regardless of their muscle mass. On the other hand, The Hulk sure isn’t showing his age.

Well, having leisure time, energy, & few enough pressing responsibilities that you can do physical activity for fun on a regular basis probably does have a positive impact on quality of life. Not sure 'you'll live longer if you're financially secure & happy' is new info, tho.

Sure, but muscle acts as a glucose disposal organ and plays a role in maintaining insulin sensitivity. Resistance exercise which builds and preserves muscle mass are preventative for sarcopenia and osteopenia. All we really have are epidemiological studies WRT this
