I was a youngun in college in the post 9/11 years and the topic of Rudy somehow came up with my roommate who was from NY and he was just like "He's a horse's ass" And I'm actually shocked and I'm like "What about 9/11" I got an earful

Seriously, a mildly incompetent President would have easily won re-election this year, simply by addressing the country every week and otherwise lying low. Mario Cuomo and Larry Hogan have become stars despite objectively screwing up. Disasters are a godsend for incumbents.
