I understand it was inevitable but it still bothers me that the later Scooby-Doo cartoons - including some very high quality ones - have the supernatural be realhttps://twitter.com/AnaMardoll/status/1337391888605835266 …

Y'all like QTs with controversial opinions, so: QT with the name of a sequel/prequel that, regardless of standalone quality, profoundly misunderstood or mangled the themes present in movie(s) preceding it in the franchise.

That said the direction the 2010 cartoon (Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated) goes with it is really cool and I approve of it, as I do all stories that get weird and meta

I'm waiting for the Scooby-Doo cartoon that addresses the fact that Scooby-Doo, himself, is obviously a supernatural phenomenon

My headcanon is that Scooby is some kind of god or spirit himself who's clouding the minds of everyone around him to keep them from recognizing this fact and he's turned against his own kind Eliminating malign spirits from the world to protect humanity

My headcannon is that Scooby is a regular dog whose intelligence has been reallocated to sort-of speech, which is why he's dumb and uncoordinated below the level of an ordinary dog in every other respect.
