I mean, this doesn't feel like much of a slam dunk? You can be bi or polyam and marry the opposite conventional gender

It's because TERFs genuinely do not think bisexuality exists

They believe everyone is either straight or gay, and calling yourself bi is a way to lie about it (you're either gay with one foot in the closet or you're straight and seeking attention) Explicitly, this is what they think

It's because their whole worldview relies on the idea that maleness and femaleness are fundamental biological opposites Anyone who's into "male anatomy" must be repulsed and disgusted by "female anatomy", and vice versa

Kathleen Stock, as a TERFilosopher who's actually bothered to try to outline her thoughts in detail, has said that she considers bisexuality to therefore be a source of conflict -- if a bisexual exists, they have two desires that fundamentally contradict each other and are at war

This is why, in the debate between the words "bi" and "pan", TERFs are extremely hostile to "pan" (and similar words like "queer") Loosely speaking, "pansexual" connotes indifference to gender/sex when it comes to attraction, and TERFs believe this is impossible and insulting

The unfortunate thing of course is that while this is tied to being a TERF it's not *because* they're TERFs TERFs are just conservatives This kind of opinion was once very common and openly stated There's a Sex and the City episode about it

They're all just sitting around talking about "Would you ever date a bi dude?" and openly throwing out biphobia as "What we're all thinking" "No, because who wants to be some gay man in denial's beard"

I have known bi women say they wouldn’t date bi men because they wouldn’t want that competition. It’s all sorts of toxic.

Yeah I met a bi girl in college who said all the toxic shit about "I think all girls are at least a little bi but there's no such thing as a bi dude, they're just gay in denial Also it doesn't count as cheating if a girl in a relationship with a guy has sex with another girl"

What shitty people. I'm a bi woman and I totally think dating bi men would be ideal!
