It is not. Hot water & a soapless scrubber. I use one that's basically chain mail, but any scratchy scrubber works fine. If it's been properly seasoned (oil+heat) it won't be hard to clean. I know this bc we use cast iron skillets daily, bc that's what I grew up with.
