I personally think that, by their logic, I, myself -- a weird young-ish Internet person with no kids and no intention of ever having them -- should be on the school board I also think I should also someday be the Secretary of Defense, or someone like me should

the union thing is the heart of it really. A lot of time and money has gone into getting people to think that way and thats mostly why. This also why ots way easier to get away with defunding schools compared to other unionized public institutions.
