This is auteur theory's fault Tons of people on set could've and should've pushed back -- the kids' parents shouldn't have taken the job, Vic Morrow should've just walked out -- but Hollywood had this ingrained culture that directors were geniuses and you didn't question themhttps://twitter.com/JoshuaHumphrey/status/1335278128797790208 …

This has changed dramatically, based on my experience in film production. A good stunt coordinator absolutely will refuse to let a camera roll if they think the stunt is unsafe. A stunty who won't stand up to the bosses on safety issues is bad at their job.

And at least on our show, the 1stAD is in charge of on set safety. And ours are pitbulls when it comes to that. I'm an EP, and I've been yelled at for leaning on a safety railing by the 1stAD on our show.

I’m really kind of excited to see where filmmaking goes from here. I mean we’ve seen similar stuff from gen-x directors who were more independent but still had to be “the guy who could make people do stuff” to get their breaks. As tech advances even more who knows?
