Well, sure, but there is evidence of discrimination on the employer end too (employers aren't supposed to even be able to ask about this when making decisions but obviously this is unenforceable) Fathers make more once they have kids, mothers make less

The only time I ever successfully negotiated a raise was when I was male-presenting and told the manager I was family planning. It legit works

It's really obnoxious, especially because hardnosed negotiation coaches tell you the right thing to do is "Focus on the value you bring to the company, don't make it about yourself and what you need"

Turns out making it about yourself and what you need is *absolutely* a winning strategy -- if and only if you are a kind of person the boss feels he can relate to
