You know I was really into the Ataris' cover of "Boys of Summer", which came out when I was in high school, only I interpreted it as a completely earnest tribute to an ex-girlfriend and when I found out it was supposed to be a metaphor about hippies selling out I was so madhttps://twitter.com/paranoiacs/status/1333666766921281536 …

Well the Ataris turned it into punks selling out (from "Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac" to "Black Flag sticker on a Cadillac") I still didn't care though

My favorite Don Henley thing is that terrible song Get Over It, an embarrassing screed by the ultimate boomer yuppie about how much Gen X is a bunch of whiners.

"Don? Don...? You're worth $100 million! Kindly piss off with your lectures!"

The funniest mondegreen I've ever heard is someone mishearing "I'm driving by your house" from this song as "I'm gonna buy your house" "I'm gonna buy your house, even though you're not home!" Total, massive accidental own of Don Henley

Buying an ex's house so he can live in it - even though she is, indeed, not in it anymore - would be just like him

The Eagles doc that came out a few years ago opens, cues credits tagging off Henley explaining why they are so successful from the back of a limo “Shit don’t float.” CREDITS/LIFE IN THE FASTLANE RIFF Uhhh... Don... Shit floats.
