they chose that profession. As hard as I’m trying, neither me nor my mom can opt out of Minnesota Again, I think it’s different in the cities, where people are sensible and not bent on infecting as many people as possible for their loser-god. But here everywhere’s a hospital

No, I’m saying they are and people are being asked not to buy them, not legally but based on imploring us to think of the poor doctors and nurses. I think of my mother, who, as you point out, has a very low infection chance AS LONG AS I KEEP HER SAFE
-
I mean okay, but no one's forcing you not to buy one, and if that's your value system and your risk assessment then you should buy one

I don't know all the details of certifications for different markets but I don't think that's even true though? They're doing a Black Friday sale on N95s right now, they're just expensive https://clinicalsuppliesusa.com/collections/3m-8511 …

Yeah, you can buy them. I do (cheaper than that). My understanding was that I was to be viewed as a Traitor to Doctors and Nurses, The True Heroes, for doing that.

I bought that stuff for a while in spring. While n95 are great for not inhaling droplets and aerosols with viruses in it, they only provide a reasonable level of protection with goggles and cloves. When in contact with infectious persons a full body suit is required.

When aiming to protect oneself with ppe you need several ppe equipment pieces and the basic training to use them. A non-pro person is -as far as I know- not better protected with a n95 than with a decently thick piece of random fabric infront of your face.

I think it’s a moral thing to want your mother to not die choking to death, and not outside the scope of most traditional moralities to value those dearest to you above the abstract social good
