I also apply this standard to jokes Basically I am of the opinion that for trans identity to actually be normalized, we have to treat it as normal, which means that sometimes people, even cis people, can make jokes about it I have no idea who Aubrey Plaza is btw

She was referencing the Lady Gaga rumors, but the context was somewhat different because those rumors actually already existed when Lady Gaga joked about them, whereas Plaza intentionally brought it up as a non sequitur

Right. It's suboptimal but like ... I frankly don't care and don't see how that particular celebrity... thing will hurt people. I know others can see ways, but I just ... I mean, a lot of the people bothered by that couldn't be bothered to vote for a pro trans guy over Trump

It feels like it's just an obvious logical consequence of saying you're not allowed to push back on any accusation of bigotry, even just in terms of proportionality ("Is this a useful thing to spend our energy on at the moment")
