As a Brit, I'm often impressed by how much Americans do it Pavement = "sidewalk" Autumn = "Fall"

"Fall" is the older term than "autumn", which is a borrowing from Latin, and is the obvious opposite of "spring" Orwell was one of the English writers who lamented that this poetic symmetry was lost in his own country but preserved in the New World
