He should have had to go up against a pallet swapped version of himself

Wait that might actually have been interesting, if the oasis or whatever duplicated a version of him that was nearly indistinguishable except he wore red, because he's just an algorithm that references databases

I almost considered that I was wrong and this plot point validates the title but no, it doesn't because the software clone of Wade doesn't participate in any of the action and is only created after the end of the main story

Wait, that's *actually* the end? I haven't seen the film or read either book, I thought about that for a minute, tops. How much money did they give that dude?

The first book is about a VR simulation in the sense of realistic VR where you wear a suit The second book revolves around the big breakthrough that there's a second, better version of VR that's been kept secret, which actually interfaces with the brain

And so the big optimistic ending of the second book is the human race being converted into software and uploaded onto a spaceship that's flying to the stars to abandon the ruined Earth

Does all of humanity get uploaded or just his friends?

I read the wiki plot summary and it seems like events totally condemn the main character and all his decisions, but I’m guessing it magically doesn’t?
