It's not like he died several seasons ago and was just forgotten (like has happened to other Supernatural characters) On the other hand, killing him JUST BEFORE THE END obviously is gonna provoke people

Just like his sacrifice technically isn't that bad because he's only dead for the last two episodes anyway but also means that it feels incredibly abrupt and we get no time to actually think about the meaning of it

Sam dies after a long life. Dean never acknowledges Cas's confession. Other characters are left unresolved w/plot holes. People had issues w/far more than this trope & that is what he was missing in his video. He decided to listen.

I will never get over Eileen. She died more than once. Sam & Eileen were canon. She was a deaf character who was badass; she brought awareness of ASL & subtitles to videos. Hell, even Gish was made better bc of her.
