End result, this scene has Tom Cruise standing and Jake Johnson sitting in a folding chair they apparently had with them on the expedition Jake Johnson's acting tip: "You should always try to do a good job, but if you can always try to find a way to do it sitting down"

To his credit he could probably smell the bad on this project and I don’t blame him for not wanting to kill him self to do it.

I miss the Tom Cruise who just made big budget dramas and used his star power to get any directors movie made. Now he’s Evel Knievel, which I respect because he so desperately is trying to entertain you. But still.

You can say whatever you want about Cruise but that motherfucker has never once phoned anything in. Doesn’t know the meaning of the word. He idles at 110%.

I’m convinced that Tom Cruise’s one fear is dying of old age so he’s deficient himself to attempting increasingly ridiculous stunts in the hopes that one of them will kill him.

I’m convinced he’s the extreme of a lot of a certain type of actor, who are empty vessels who feel most normal when inhabiting something.

Bronson Pinchot's reminiscence of working with him on Risky Business remains definitivehttps://www.avclub.com/bronson-pinchot-1798218088 …

Honestly, I think that’s right in line with what I’m saying. I can imagine Cruise *performing* a version of toxic masculinity, just like that story Adam Carolla told about him showing up to the super bowl party with a football and just being TOO into it.

When Christian Bale was studying up on 80s stuff to play Patrick Bateman in American Psycho he said he based the "emptiness in the eyes" Bateman has on Tom Cruise in Risky Business

Yeah I remember that. Which is funny because Bateman himself is obsessed with Cruise in the book (and Trump).
