I honestly think that one of the big problems with a "civics education" as we understand it is that it's premised on the idea that the system as currently constituted is a good system and we have a duty to try to maintain it Based on basically no evidence

Slave rapist Thomas Jefferson himself WANTED the constitution to be completely scrapped and rewritten every 20 years. "Every constitution then... naturally expires at the end of 19 years. If it be enforced longer, it is an act of force, and not of right."

Sure, but that's based on the reasonable idea that new generations deserve a voice in their governance, and the very stupid idea that generations change on a precise 19 year schedule. TJ had basically nothing to do with the constitution, and was firing wildly from the hip there

TJ isn’t the arbiter for it, especially since it got changed a lot in committee, but the man wrote it. If any single man has a say about it, it’s him. Genuinely don’t know how you think he had nothing to do with it
