Because I'm petty, I'm going to gather you all around and tell you about that time JK Rowling was extremely wrong about something and, by being wrong about it, poisoned Google search results for it for years afterwards and generally made the world ignorant about it

Not sure what you're alluding to, but the worst example of poisoning google I've seen is search murdered women in 2020 and 6 of the top 10 results are about transgender women.

If you feel poisoned by reading trans women's names you have a moral responsibility to figure out why before you hurt people with your bigotry. If you feel threatened by dead trans women you need to do something about your bias, quickly. You are a danger to the people around you.

That doesn't make sense that the top 10 Google search for women murdered in a year, 6 are transgender. Transgender is a minority clearly being misrepresented by Google. That's common sense, not bigotry. It's implying something that isn't true, that transgender women are either

Google is not supposed to be some kind of objective database of crimes -- in order to make such a database, you would have to intentionally create one By its very nature, Google's PageRank is designed to measure only *what people on the Internet are talking about*

Moreover, Google's search results for most people these days are customized, so the ranking is not only what people en masse are talking about but what you, personally, are clicking articles about Blame your-fucking-self if you get "too much trans news" in your feed
