You don't have to go "old timey" lol. Just notice how common it is in modern UK movies/TV/radio dramas to have the female lead be either 1) a US actress playing American 2) a UK actress adopting a US accent or (less common) 3) a US actress adopting a UK accent.

It's just noticeable because with stuff like Tarzan and Jane the Hollywood version becomes the most overwhelmingly well known version of the character, and it's ironic Like if you try to give an example of an "English Rose" character a lot of Americans will pick Jane from Tarzan
