Is it possible to pardon someone from state-law charges? I thought a pardon was no good for getting him out from the wrath of the NY AG.

After all, the (controversial) interpretation of Burdick that says that a pardon implies guilt means that you *already confessed to the crime*, so how could finding more evidence that you did it affect the fact that you were pardoned

Fair, but I believe Nixon maintained that all his actions as president were legal even after he accepted the pardon.

If I had the time and the energy (mostly the latter) I suppose I could undertake some research to see whether anyone who had been formally pardoned was subsequently indicted for crimes having the same nexus as those for which they were pardoned. I would anticipate scarce caselaw.
