I get it. You're scared. Trying to be delicate here because I don't aim to insult but you realize your ask, right? That healthy people quarantine to protect you from your previous choices (obesity being mostly non-genetic)? This is the definition of moral hazard.

I didn't ask you too. Self-isolate.

The obesity rate in the United States among adults is over 40%. So are we going to cover self-isolation for half the country while "staying open"?

I mean, we can keep doing this, with every elevated risk factor.

Sure but obesity is by far the biggest issue. Something like 80% of covid ICU patients are clinically obese. This is a fact. And its one we need to confront and solve going foward covid or no covid.

Obesity isn’t a moral failing. Fat phobia is.

Noone said its a personal failing. I implied its a health risk (obviously) and noted its from lifestyle choices in many cases (undoubtedly). Sorry that makes you squeamish. It's not "fat phobia". It's an honest, non-judgemental acknolwedment of a medical reality. Period.

That is not the actual medical reality. It's largely debunked bullshit. Social abuse and medical neglect and abuse have far greater negative impact on health than weight alone has ever shown.

A fat friend of mine was recently in the hospital. Her doctor put on her chart that she has diabetes. She does not. The doc assumed she did because of her weight. Fat people are in danger in the health care system because of myths and assumptions.

Yeah I actually have lower-than-normal blood pressure and my blood glucose levels are normal but I fully expect that in some kind of crisis situation someone eager to do triage would write me off as "prone" to hypertension and diabetes

Yeah, i mean, same. My glucose, kidney function, liver function, etc are all fine, my blood pressure is normal, my "good cholesterol" is a little wonky but my "bad cholesterol" is fine. I'm just fat. Thankfully i finally have a doctor who isn't a dick about it.
