I get it. You're scared. Trying to be delicate here because I don't aim to insult but you realize your ask, right? That healthy people quarantine to protect you from your previous choices (obesity being mostly non-genetic)? This is the definition of moral hazard.

The incredible, shocking hypocrisy of saying that universal lockdown can't continue, it's impossible to maintain, we just can't do it, and then saying that anyone who's actually worried about their health can just *decide* to self-isolate Fucking goddamn pricks

To the extent that lockdowns work they work BECAUSE they are universal They work because EVERYONE is following the rules, so one person's slip-up here and there has a reduced impact And because the social pressure of everyone doing it makes the "good choices" easier

The libertarian solution of "Everyone just decides their own acceptable risk profile and modifies their behavior accordingly" is fucking idiotic It's the equivalent of saying we don't need speed limits -- if you're worried about an accident, just drive slower than everyone else

Everyone can drive drunk. If that worries you, just stay off the roads. Oh, you need to drive to work? Too bad.

You can just personally become a better and more skilled driver to compensate

Fuckstains like this talking like "self-isolating" is even a *possible task* at all in a world where most "normal, healthy people" have completely stopped trying Try social distancing in a supermarket where nobody else is doing it, see how long you can keep it up

If nobody else in the world is wearing a mask then the protective value of a mask drops down precipitously You'd have to go around in an actual N100 filter system or some shit
