In principle I'm still against the carceral system but it's also really hard to shut up the little voice inside me squeaking, "jail for Donald! jail for Donald for One Thousand Years!!!!!"

Some of the (to me) most weirdly cathartic moments these past few years where Milosevic commiting suicide in his comfortable cell in The Hague and Anders Breivik whining because he didn't get a PS3.

These fucked up murderers suffered zero abuse, weere put in reasonnably comfortable places and even this was too much for them: even the mildest punishment socially acceptable for mass murderers caught was unbearable to them.

The way I deal with those contractionary impulses is by thinking that, when you have limited resources, you aren't obligated to start by protecting the most monstrous and powerful individual. Start with the vulnerable.

And, with Trump, he wanted an unjust and cruel system. Maybe we shouldn't deny him what he wants without going out of our way to be cruel.
