In theory, and given the inevitability with which the fixation on access journalism feeds the manufacturing of consent, it feels like the way for one party to hold the presidency forever is just to always resign 34 months into a four-year term and run the ascended VP as incumbent

It is worth noting that the runner-up, Bernie, has a lot more fervent fans who insist ONLY Bernie stands for them on the issues and no one else had his credibility Which immediately raises the issue of Bernie being the same age as Biden and having already had one heart attack

"Who would Bernie pick as his running mate?" is one of those pointless counterfactuals that's nonetheless kind of fascinating Warren would've been a frontrunner, but probably just a strategically bad choice for all the reasons Biden didn't pick her

I guess one could argue that the logic of picking Kamala as VP, despite her having "auditioned" fairly badly in the primaries (even if only in terms of her campaign management) is that it functions as a dropkick of squeamish white ppl into the cool water of a WoC presidency

Literally shoving them in and being like "see, it's not so bad"
