Like, I legitimately appreciate learning that even after I stopped watching the show, the basic format of a GM desperately flipping through increasingly esoteric monster books as 2 minmaxed PCs kill everything that has a stat block never gave way to something different.

Anyway, the Empty literally isn't Hell as in beings in the Empty normally have no conscious existence at all, they literally don't exist and are only "memories" the Empty has of what they were like when they did

What happened with Castiel was that Jack (a Nephilim, basically an Antichrist -- Lucifer's child with a human woman, who by combining angelic grace and mortal free will has the potential to recreate the power of God himself) actively tried to bring Castiel back after destruction
