Freaky looks like a blast. Stoked for it.

I'm here to ride the "slasher + x" formula for as long as it will carry me I'm way more into it than I was the whole "zombies + x" fad we went through

Agreed. Zombie stories have this... I'm suspicious of their popularity because they seem to be guilt free murder disguised as anything else. If that makes any sense. I like my Zombie movies to not be so escapist because of my aforementioned grumpiness.

Basically I like Dawn of the Dead, NOTL, and everything else is a bunch of power fantasy I don't need, including walking dead. Wouldn't it be cool not to go to work and kill your neighbors and look greasy in a sexy way?

My favorite part of Dawn is that the mauraders aren't badass or cool, they are gross clowns because of course that is who would thrive in that situation. I like Dawn because it's devoid of fun.

Whereas I feel like Slashers are like pop songs, mythic slabs of youth culture. Hence the title to my second film BOOGEYMAN POP, which is a slasher deconstruction/hangout film, that for the love of all that is holy will be released someday.

Nothing like some good old simple primal fear Big dude trying to kill you, without all these additional memes about infection and corruption and whatnot

They usually involve, oddly, the RECENT past coming back. They are kind of, if we start at Halloween, all a version of Sleepy Hallow, which is about a dude who goes to a party to chase a girl and gets ran out of town by the town's urban legend.

Yup the lore of a slasher is usually about denial A dirty little secret, too long suppressed, comes roaring back

It doesn't have to be *karma*, like Jason gives a lot of people the false impression he has to have a legitimate grievance Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers are both just straight up evil and deserved to be killed

The error is this more primal error that they tried to *bury* them and forget it ever happened The deep down primal fear that anything you try to forget and cover up only grows more powerful in the dark

I think somewhat by accident, due to lack of research on psychopathy or lust homicides or what have you, they accidentally made Michael Myers completely unknowable in that first film, making him totemic. Laurie is there to bear witness to Loomis thesis. This thing is not a man.
