I'm just really frustrated with what seems like a general insistence that *nobody* fucked up and that Democratic leaders cannot ever fail, only be failed by voters just stubbornly voting the wrong way

Democrats controlled the Senate in 2013, and if McConnell had tried to permanently block Ginsburg's replacement Democrats could've nuked the filibuster for SCOTUS confirmation the way they just had for the lower courts, and as McConnell did anyway four years later

If RBG had retired and the seat stayed vacant because Harry Reid didn't have the stones to nuke the filibuster and McConnell did, then the seat going to a Republican would be Harry Reid's fault But that's not what happened, and what actually did happen is Ginsburg's fault

And Ginsburg's description of her reasoning in this article is exactly the attitude that's so frustrating and that's shared by so many other liberals in high places Like it's all about her quality as a justice and that she shouldn't have to step aside for someone less good
