Besides which, it only worked for Trump because the Senate was uninterested in restraining him or telling him no. Biden would not be given the same deference, the aiding and abetting Trump has received from McConnell's Senate.

I'm trying to think of positions that aren't Senate-Confirmable that you could give to a non-catastrophically-awful R Senator from a Dem led state to poach a seat. I'm also trying to think of non-catastrophically-awful R senators.... struggling with this one.

Absolutely. A LOT of government institutions (state and local) do this to favorably advance incompetent employees for pet projects. I’m stunned by some of what I’ve seen.
