A lot of people like the edgy take "We should've just let the South leave in 1860, half a million people wouldn't have died and the North could've become a much better country for it" "And the CSA would've had to free the slaves in 20 years for economic reasons anyway"

The "they would've freed the slaves eventually" thing always pisses me off It's their little get out of jail free card for getting to enjoy wargaming out "What if the South won the war" without feeling bad for rooting for evil

At least the edgelords who enjoy playing out scenarios of "What if the Axis won WWII" don't bother trying to imagine some kind of Good Hitler who'd miraculously put a stop to the Holocaust

Lol yeah if Hitler hadn't been a raging antisemite he'd just be some unemployed veteran we never heard of and we'd be arguing about whether Anton Drexler could've won the war

He's the actual original founder of the NSDAP Hitler himself was Party Member #7 and he later gave himself the #1 badge as a retcon

Technically it was just the DAP back then (German Workers' Party), they added the "National Socialist" later as explicit propaganda to try to attract the red-brown types (Hitler himself was deeply opposed to the word "socialist")

Anyway Manichaeism happened after Christianity - Mani himself was probably raised Christian - so it's kind of the reverse Like we're living in a Manichaean world asking if Paul's original religion had won out maybe it'd be less antisemitic
