The issue is less about who deserves the credit for winning the war and who paid the COSTS of the war And it obviously rubs people the wrong way to say that the people who suffered least were best placed to make an objective judgment of how to pursue justice

Well, set up a process among everyone liberated from the camps, hold elections, figure it out It wouldn't be perfect but it'd probably be more just than what we got

Most likely, just as a baseline, a council of survivors would've voted themselves big cash reparations, which would've been more than fair (and is more important than any other form of "vengeance")
