The only gender related thing my dad picked up on was that second wave vampires were "terrifying" and Duke was the most evil vampire concept he'd ever encountered

Lol it really says something that Duke's "Women should have unquestioned rule over men" is scarier to him than Vlad's "*I* should have unquestioned rule over *everyone else*"

Duke is scarier and more evil than Castlevania Dracula apparently because at least Castlevania Dracula is an aristocrat

In fairness my dad would never lower himself to watch *shudders* animation

in any case this is fascinating to me because it makes me feel like I'm your father's boogeyman

Duke doesn't even actually *want* to turn all women into vampires and enslave all the men I mean, she says she fantasizes about it, but she's not *doing* anything about it That's one of the reasons the First Bride turns on her, she's just "living like a teenager"

She says that to Laurel when she first initiates her, that "this isn't a movement"

That's the most obvious critique of Duke and the Bit Girls as actual "feminists", that sure they kill off a bunch of rapists but they haven't done anything to change the world In fact they themselves are another threat attractive young women have to be afraid of

I would be too dangerous and powerful as a BIT vampire thanks to my unquenchable bloodlust and well-documented willingness to just eat any old shit

I mean obviously Duke is keeping up the Masquerade for the usual practical reason that ending up having to fight the military power of the entire state is a bigger goal than she cares to try for Though I guess if you just keep on making vampires it wouldn't be that hard

I mean so long as you can fly, see in the dark, and access a MANPADs it's theoretically not too hard to destabilize a state with just one vampire

The thing in Bit where they ask why vampire hunters always assume vampires can't also use human weapons on top of their vampire powers was pretty good
