Not to well actually this, but the US joined the war because they were attacked by Japan and then Germany declared war on the US in solidarity with their ally. Had Hitler not declared war on the US it’s not certain that the US would have been involved in the European theatre.

It’s pretty clear Roosevelt wanted to be in the European war, but the broad will wasn’t there until the Pearl Harbor attack and Hitler’s declaration.
