Arthur's whole point is that at a certain point everyone over the age of majority, at the very least, loses the pretense of "innocence". The whole idea that women aren't ALSO upholders of fascism or other violent regimes is ridiculous and misogynist, tbh.

This kinda reminds me of the weird legalistic way right-wingers think about acceptable sex practices. It's either YOUR SPOUSE or NOT YOUR SPOUSE. The whole idea of, like, consent, is completely unimportant to them. It's not part of their whole ontology.

And this guy is harping in the same way about CIVILIANS vs SOLDIERS, as if there's any real meaningful distinction in a totalizing conflict (and past a certain point there really is not) and also as if no other facts are relevant.

He’s trying to find a way to credit Hitler’s claims of a war with Judaism without saying the Holocaust was a conflict with sides, give him a few decades here

I mean, under some circumstances it's reasonable and even vital to talk about intentions vs results (results are often way more important), but also, Dresden was a MILITARY TARGET that had civilians in it.

Honestly, it sucks. I genuinely do believe that every single innocent death (which in the case of Dresden basically means "kids", everyone else was complicit) is a fucking tragedy that cries out for justice. But the world isn't simple. Or fair.
