The fact that Clive-as-Jessica instantly takes to his new situation and immediately starts raking in cash as a sex worker, with no apparent desire to switch back, is possibly more resonant with some of the audience than the writing team really intended it to be

(On the flip side, that's also why in Freaky, the serial killer reveling in the fact that he's now in his intended victim's body because it makes his job so much easier, while it makes for a more compelling film, also has Unfortunate Implications)

Please elaborate on these Unfortunate Implications.

It's the stereotype people have of trans women as predators in sheep's clothing?

Ah, I completely missed that. I thought you were implying that existing gender stereotypes would make it easier for one gender to behave in a predatory way, but that's my own history asserting itself in my interpretation.

Again, it is really striking how the Butcher becomes a Hollywood femme fatale like *immediately* upon entering Milly's body

It's that inaccurate idea about how sociopaths are "natural predators" who can instantly adopt any disguise that helps them hurt people I mean again he spent like 50 years as a cis man who apparently didn't go out much or have any friends

It seems like there'd be more of a learning curve before he shows up rocking the high heeled boots and seductively putting boys' fingers in his mouth and whatnot

Admittedly I like the joke that when he stops just vamping and tries to pretend to be Milly for real he's terrible at it Like all of his attempts to play the damsel and scream for help or beg for mercy have this obvious air of withering sarcasm

Which people just don't pick up on because they see it coming from a pretty blonde girl (Just from this trailer Kathryn Newton as real!Milly and as the Butcher is fucking killing it acting-wise)

The joke is this movie is when Milly and the Butcher finally have their rematch knife fight we're more afraid for the safety of the huge adult man than we are the little blonde girl Which requires both actors bring their A-game but honestly requires more from Newton than Vaughn

Anyway the thing I was saying about Unfortunate Implications is really just that in both of these movies there's an implication that both characters are, technically, trans women Like, the woman is desperate to change back and the man loves the new situation and wants to keep it

Well I'm glad that I asked because I misunderstood and thought you were referring to straight gender stereotypes about who is dangerous. You have clarified that point very well.
