Curious why you think a PHYSICAL treatment, eg surgery, hormones, is the best cure for what you agree is a MENTAL disorder? Children who suffer from gender dysphoria should clearly be offered treatment. But psychological treatment, not surgery/hormones. Their bodies are healthy.

Also, therapy also involves not just abstract discussions about your feelings, but ways to change your life and the way you live, to bring it in line with how you want it to be.

TERFs like to say that depression and dysphoria are "comorbid conditions" when really depression is a symptom of dysphoria, as it is a symptom of so many other things Many people who become paralyzed also become depressed, are those "comorbid conditions"

When we say "depression" it's often difficult to pick apart what should properly be called "major depressive disorder" and mere "situational depression", because the world sucks and so many people's situations have always been bad But changing situations *does* treat depression

Some people actually do in fact stop being depressed, and while they obviously aren't perfectly happy for the rest of their lives they return to what people think of as a "normal" baseline It's not typical but it's hardly rare either
