I worked the last Ontario provincial election and we had one guy announce he was going to spoil his ballot on purpose. We were told to encourage people not to do that because spoiled ballots aren't counted and it meant it was just a waste of time for everyone.

It *feels* like a big stand and that you're saying something, but it's just mildly annoying to whoever's counting and it gets tossed in the pile with the ballots that were filled out wrong by accident. No one keeps track of *how* ballots are spoiled, just how many there are.

One of the local races had no candidates running at all, it was merely a write-in on the ballot. I wrote in "Boba Fett" because that's my go-to write in. Not sure I'd be given a parade for it, but I do wonder if jokey "write in" votes on an otherwise serious ballot can haunt me.

The one time I can remember this coming up is when they had that super intense recount process between Al Franken and Norm Coleman for the MN Senate seat in 2008, and images of ballots with wacky write-ins went viral online

Both of the major parties in New Zealand are led by women, but apparently none of the parties are standing for women

"Adult" seems like a very suspect designation for this person.
