What percentage of parents are homophobic, do you think? And how many nutters are in contact with children?

You're suggesting its 50%? One groomer doesn't groom one kid. Think. This is important.

There were 3 separate pedophiles working at my high school while I attended it. Exactly 0 of them had anything whatsoever to do with the GSA or any similar student groups. That's also the number of them who were LGBTQ (openly, at least).

That's terrible. Was anything done about it? I'm not saying the GSA is responsible for all paedophiles, but if they ignore basic safeguarding principals, the GSA will become a target for paedophile infiltration.

Turns out the only safeguarding we really needed was for adults to *listen to the fucking students* and not get wrapped up in weird ideological bullshit. Could a teacher running GSA be a predator? Sure. So could a basketball coach. So could the head administrator.

But you think the GSA specifically needs some kind of safeguarding? Kids don't shower in GSA. Nor do they ever need to practice 1-on-1, or face disciplinary action, or maybe any kind of physical contact. It's less risky than sports, theatre, or plain old academics.

Then why even single out GSA for "safeguarding"? You think schools are bringing in non-teachers to advise the GSA? And what are these "safeguards" anyway? Like, specifically, what would you do about this very specific threat? Why do you believe that would be effective?

The examples of "outside adults" Malcolm brought up were high-profile trans people coming to give a lecture as a public event Which people like Glinner call "grooming" because they've drained all meaning from that word

They reel you in by talking about the idea of actual child molesters running amok but what they're really worried about is trans people telling kids that it's okay to transition They think of that as, in and of itself, harm (Drugs! Surgery! Mutilation!)

It frustrates me that the discourse keeps centering on the risk that certain adults might be abusers instead of focusing on rules that prevent abuse from taking place, such as with the Boy Scouts "Barriers to Abuse" rules.https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/yp-faqs/#as …

The solution isn't to eliminate every activity that involves an adult/child interaction, but to create rules that make it nearly impossible for abuse to take place. The Boy Scouts have taken this approach.
