The founder of the LGB Alliance is on record saying he doesn't want adult gay men talking to straight children because he thinks they'll corrupt them! Jesus Christ

Arthur, you seem to be referring to me since I’m the only man on the Steering Committee of
@ALLIANCELGB Your claim is entirely untrue. Here’s a thread where I explained my position. I thought you valued your reputation as honest. It would appear not.https://twitter.com/TwisterFilm/status/1220842159508807680 …Malcolm Clark added,

The original proponents of Section 28, including your beloved Baroness, didn't literally say all gay men were predators either - nobody actually says that in public, not even the worst homophobes It's always acting out of "an abundance of caution"

You’ve changed your claim to say I “implied” but your original tweet claimed I was “on the record” as saying gay teachers were a danger. I didn’t say that. I said a tiny minority of teachers both straight and gay are predatory of which the vast majority are straight. Why lie?

Whatever you think the relative size of the danger is, you think it's sufficient to oppose the existence of Gay-Straight Alliance orgs in schools, which is the actual point

If you bothered to read the thread or other comments I’ve made you’d know that my concern is about a failure to observe child safeguarding rules in relation to some groups. These rules exist to protect kids from predatory men whatever their sexuality.

Right, you're bothered by basic shit like schools having safe spaces where stuff they say about their gender and sexuality isn't reported to parents

Most teachers don’t consider child safeguarding policies “basic shit”. Confidentiality can be important but parents also have a right to know what issues are discussed by their child with older kids or adults in groups organised around sexuality.

no they don't, because potentially homophobic or otherwise abusive parents are the ones it's important to have confidentiality *from* you cannot hold both beliefs at once

and informing parents of stuff has nothing to do with safeguarding anyway, a particular child's parents' opinions of a subject has absolutely no bearing on whether it is in fact a danger to children or not.

People like to say shit like they don't have an objective definition of harm and every parent should be able to decide that for themselves as though that's the liberal, tolerant position when in fact it's the foundational basis by which our society enables abusive parents

We’re back to the same point that set this thread on fire, children do not have a right to any agency whatsoever
