I mean yes it is true that for most names in English that end in -a you emphasize the second-to-last syllable but there are enough exceptions (Angela, Barbara, Julia) that learning one more shouldn't be that big a deal

I remember when NPR interviewed a muslim woman and she had a really generic name like Jane Doe or Amanda Smith and they tried to pronounce her name in the most "ethnic" way possible.
