He's one of those writers I wish people would read beyond his children's fiction because he work for adults is often interesting in its differences and a much better window in to the sort of person he actually was.

There's a story called "Neck" where a rich coward's flirty younger wife gets her head stuck in a statue, and he "frees" her by decapitation. It was adapted for an ep of Tales of the Unexpected back when he introduced every episode and he clarifies he finds the story hilarious.
