What a disgraceful way to respond to an offer of discussion, and how indicative of your disrespect for women as a political class. @mcashmanCBE

Emma Nicholson should have gone on trial at the Hague for peddling lies to the British public to sell a war that killed hundreds of thousands The fact that she walks free is in and of itself more respect by far than she deserves

What on earth does that have to to do with this topic?

She is a generally bad person who has caused tremendous harm in many ways throughout her career and any respect or civility given to her by her colleagues is more than she actually deserves

And therefore should not be allowed to discuss anything ever again? What a strange approach.

Anyone who was actually part of the movement to systematically deceive the public in the lead-up to the war should've been drummed out of public life, yes, and it's to the great shame of both the US and the UK that this did not happen

You do realise that it was a labour government who took uk into the American war against saddam? Incidentally, the baroness was a Lib Dem MP at that time & they voted against getting involved.

The House of Lords, to my knowledge, did not vote on the resolution to invade Iraq Nicholson was an MEP at the time, and the European Parliament debated three resolutions, one strongly against the war, one strongly for it and one fence-sitting, all of which she failed to vote in

Since those resolutions were nonbinding and symbolic, that doesn't really matter What matters is she spent years making the "humanitarian" case for an invasion and passed a dossier of info about WMDs to Hans Blixhttps://www.politico.eu/article/mep-hands-blix-dossier-on-sites-linked-to-weapons-development/ …

Saddam was committing genocide so not unreasonable to suggest he should be stopped (unlike US who continued to support him despite gassing his own citizens). Using your logic, we should have left milosevic to deal with those unruly Bosnians & kosovans.

The shocking thing to me is finding out to what degree TERF Twitter has moved from denial to acceptance on the Iraq War now that they've decided Emma Nicholson is a shero People making pro-invasion arguments I thought I'd never see again
