If minors can't consent to sex, is there anything they can consent to? Can they consent to being touched, or hugged, or picked up off the ground?

This is appalling. How on earth are you comparing tickling or cuddling your child to raping them. This is a seriously sick tweet & should be deleted. Is this the kind of thing you are defending

I'm only comparing it in the sense that you shouldn't fucking do anything to a child (or an adult) they don't want you to do

Well don’t. Cuddling your child is not abuse & absolutely should be done if the child is upset. Sometimes, even when he thinks he doesn’t want it. It’s how we convey empathy without words & is comforting.

That's right. There are times when people in *distress* will avoid touch yet be comforted when they receive it, anyway, but that's the exception, not the rule. Everyday forced contact is belittling and primes the receiver to be passive. Extended tickling is literal torture.

Any "consensual non-consent" is a dicey thing that requires strong bonds of trust and that really as a society we should probably be more okay with verbally discussing

Ranging from actual BDSM sex scenes to the old manly slug in the arm and half nelson as greeting to the melodramatic grabbing someone in a hug and refusing to let go even as they sob and push you away from a Lifetime movie

These are all real things that have value and no I'm not such the stereotypical Tumblrite going "Dudes greeting each other by play-wrestling normalizes non-consent and should be banned" But it should be *talked about*, something you're trained to be able to talk about as kids

Yeah, sure, plenty of friends or lovers have a "bit" where they casually grab each other or tickle each other or smack each other in the head Understanding when you have a bond like that with someone where you can "get away with that" is not a simple or casual thing

And there are plenty -- PLENTY -- of fucking real-life situations where one party sees what's going on as casual expression of affection and the other party actually does feel bullied or abused A lot of people don't grow up with the language to say "Hey I don't like that, okay"
