I read The Jungle Book when I was ten, but I also read Kipling's writings for adults once I became an adult, which is something adults are generally expected to do before giving an assessment of an author

Also honestly The Jungle Book does have the racism come out The first written Mowgli story, "In the Rukh" (which takes place last chronologically) is about how white men are smart enough to figure out what Mowgli's deal is and accept him while the superstitious Hindus aren't

It's like the exact opposite message of The Jungle Book (1994) with Jason Lee and Lena Headey, which was a "sequel" to the cartoon extremely loosely based on "In the Rukh"
