I'm arguing against you for defending an MP who's come under investigation from the union for abusing their staff! Jesus Christ

Don't say "abuse", name the offense. Rape in an "abuse", threatening violence is an "abuse", what is the abuse you're referring to here? Be specific.

Retaliation against whistleblowers by revealing their identity so people can go after them is very clear abuse

That's a very serious accusation, if true than Duffield should be arrested and charged with incitement to violence. Will you ask your contact to call the police and file a report, this is a hate crime matter that goes way beyond the jurisdiction of unions?

Ah, so now we're moving onto "Why didn't you just call the cops then" How very familiar

People's understanding of workplace protections and the law are so profoundly terrible. Even if an employer is being horrible to you in a way that is dangerous, it might still be legal. I found that out the hard way.

Usually people who say "Why don't you call the cops?" know very well that the cops are snidely dismissive of most of the complaints they get, that's why they're saying it

Stalking is illegal. You should present your evidence to the police, I’m sure they could trace her.

The idea that "innocent against proven guilty" means you can't even TALK about something someone did unless they've been charged with and convicted of a crime is, of course, feminist AF It is such a GOOD principle for supporting victims of abuse and assault

These are mostly civil matters anyway, right? The police will never in a billion years investigate a hostile work environment claim; it's not a criminal matter.

Notice the rapid slide toward "incitement to violence", like if I can't prove specific incitement to violence then breaching anonymity is suddenly just fine and totally aboveboard

Yeah. And I mean, the resolution here isn't even asking for civil OR criminal punishments for Duffield. It's criticizing her.

And then asking the relevant organizations to try to find out more information. It's not even a demand for damages.
