I could devote some time to shitting on SE Hinton but honestly like there's only so many white ladies with typewriters you can dedicate your life to warring against

I'm quite charmed by her not knowing or giving a fuck about comic books frankly, and there's precious little I love more than comic books.

Forgive me if there's some other actually terrible thing she's said outside of that.

oh, she's said some homophobic and transphobic stuff but honestly she's an old racist lady so like what difference does it make

It was a weird thing where she reacted bizarrely strongly to someone talking about the fan headcanon that Johnny and Dallas are gayhttps://www.latimes.com/books/jacketcopy/la-et-jc-outsiders-gay-20161019-snap-story.html …

Arthur Chu Retweeted S. E. Hinton
I dunno if she's ever said anything overtly transphobic, but people accused her of transphobia because she tried to call out this author, who's a trans man, for writing a book as a tribute to her bookhttps://twitter.com/se4realhinton/status/1253455220719472645 …

Has anyone pointed out to her that she ripped off "staying gold" from Robert Frost It just seems like such a bizarre self-own to deny that anyone could make a literary reference to your own literary reference, like it seems to presuppose that her own work is not art/literature.

Apparently she's been salty for a while about how "Stay gold, Ponyboy" became a meme totally detached from her book But that's... how references work, and it is not somehow fair that she should get paid five cents every time someone says it

She's getting a LOT of bad legal advice in that thread, like it's a huge stretch to imagine there's *anything* she could legitimately sue for in this situation (Most likely it'd be a trademark lawsuit, not a copyright one, over whether the title implies affiliation with her)
