    1. Dr. Ellie Lockhart. Republic serial villain.‏ @BootlegGirl 11 Oct 2020

I just realized that Ellie gets off easier than Abby in TLOU2 in the sense of how both she and Abby have recurring flashbacks where they try to save their dad and can't Both of them get to test if they could have beat their father's murderer one on one.

Abby finds that she totally could, and did. So for her, forever she has to live with the feeling that her dad died bc she didn't come with him to the OR or didn't get there in time

Whereas Ellie loses her only "fair" fight against Abby (in the theater) and only defeats an emaciated Abby who just got off a literal crucifix, so she knows she'd probably have just been killed or beaten worse if she'd shown up earlier to Joel's killing

As Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest famously said, "strategy" in warfare just boils down to "getting there firstest with the mostest" Forrest would later found the Klan, which enthusiastically practiced this strategic principle against Black people throughout the South
